Check weighers.

Every packaging line user must provide to the customer a product which meets various requirements: one of these is the final bag weight.

The weight must be approved by a specific weighing instrument and may consist of an external scale for a statistical sample check or a check weigher, which is an automatic in-line system for weighing every bag packed by the line.

There are two main types of check weighers: static and dynamic.

The static check weighers have the great advantage of being very accurate, having very reduced dimensions since they are located inside the packaging line and sharing the line’s electronics.

The dynamic check weighers are more flexible, that is they may be located downstream of any line, also non-Ica, and may be installed later on already existing machines.

Since 1986 Ica Spa has been manufacturing and commercializing different types of check weighers of various kinds and shapes.

This extensive experience of our company has enabled the design of a brand new version of check weigher, resulting from the application of the most advanced technology to automation.

CP04D is the name of the new dynamic model of the well-known Ica check weigher, whose structure is made of steel and anodized aluminum; it uses variable-speed brushless servomotors, which ensure maximum control and yield over time. The weighing range is rather wide, from 50 to 5.500 grams and includes two value scales: the first 50-3.250 g with e=1; the second one 3.250-5.500 g with e=2.

The CP04D operates at a maximum speed of 150 pieces per minute. It is equipped with automatic 0, adjustable height and quick belt changeover system; please remember that the 3 belts are identical and interchangeable for an easy and ergonomic maintenance of the line.

The control system includes a color touch screen terminal with wide-ranging management and memorization features: it is possible to store 500 recipes which may be quickly recalled and to display interesting production data such as average, standard deviation, rejected products and other diagrams and bar charts.

There are 8 password levels which guarantee that the different people working on the line, like the maintenance engineer, the operator, etc. interact at the correct level.

When it is installed downstream of a volumetric filling system, it is possible to arrange that the system sends a feedback signal to the filler, which adjusts the tendency and corrects surpluses and shortcomings.

An interesting feature of the new CP04D is the remarkable integration reached with the Ica packaging lines: it shares the electronics, the operator interface and the printer, with a tangible advantage in terms of costs, space required and easy operation.

Like all the Ica lines, the CP04D may be also supplied with an ethernet card for central production data collection in an ic@win system.

Another possibility consists in the installation of a metal detector next to the check weigher, with an independent and lockable container for collecting the bags rejected due to metal content; the sensitivity degree may be set by the user, whereas the system may be supplied also with the metal detector alone.

Ica Spa may also provide the initial verification on site which certifies, according to the Italian Law, the conformity of the check weigher with what is declared in the type approval and perform the first periodic verification at the customer’s premises.
